Personal Statement
1. First of all, because I am good at making videos, our division of labor is my main responsibility for shooting videos and making videos. The other two team members are responsible for editing with text editors and social media. In fact, our biggest difficulty is language. For example, the the name and voice-over in the video is a biggest problem. Due to different cultures and language environments, it is difficult to describe the content and name of a website with accurate vocabulary or professional vocabulary. There is an idiom in China that can describe the mood through different tastes. But we did not use it to express it.
“Your blog name can be an excellent way to build and promote your brand, whether you’re selling a product or a service ”(Hartshorne ND). So the name of the website is very important for the us , we want to give the audience a direct meaning, but also want to metaphor for something else. We had different opinions.
In addition, in video, we have no dubbing or voice-over to explain the content of video.
Identify the topic and write one or more viable names at the same time. Analyze the names. If you have a gourmet blog, you might write some words. Such as cooking or kitchen. But if you think deeply, you may think of some dining areas, favorite ingredients, or places to cook, the feeling of food, how people describe the delicious food (Culbertsonc ND).
And we wrote down some words. But most of these names can be summarized in Chinese. For example,Wu Wei Chen Za。It means that all kinds of flavors have different feelings。Eventually we use to countries’ name to name our website。
In addition,We did not have a voice-over in our video. We found a reference. Here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqXz8hhAYGo. They show the leftmost method of food and tell people why they should use this method with subtitle. But it is clear that the content of the food is not rich.
In one of the other references, people make food and explain why they should do it. This makes the audience feel a lot of cleaning, and the food is also very attractive. Here is the link,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mz9UKbGyzo. This video is very professional. The commentary makes the picture meaningful, and it seems that every shot is indispensable. At the same time, it masks the shortcomings in the video.
Secondly, shooting equipment, we lack shooting equipment. We lacked the stabilizer when we were ready to shoot. Such as a tripod or a hand-held stabilizer. This directly affects the quality of the video. Videos do not look professional, videos not very attractive. Shooting equipment is a problem I have always had.
First you need to find the right camera, which is one of the most important qualities of video. Maintaining professional and stable shooting will allow the viewer to lift the motion sickness and stabilize your camera (Baker 2016).
I purchased Go pro black7, and its stability function can improve the quality of the video.
But its downside is that you can't zoom in or zoom out. That means the video have no good quality of close up shot. This can be used as a daily V-log shot but not for food. According to Rachel (ND), although the filming of food is not entirely macro photography, the audience wants to see the details of the food. It guarantees a sufficient shallow depth of field. Here is the link.https://twolovesstudio.com/blog/4-ultimate-food-photography-lenses/. From the photos in the website and previous shooting experience I think the lens and camera are necessary for professional shooting. I really think that the equipments are still slightly better than the DIY part. So I think the device is a necessary item to meet the video quality. If the video has quality, it will attract more people.
At last We did not make a script in the Pre-production section. After the we completed shooting, I realized that we did not make the script. But simply listed the process and plan. This is also the most important reason for the decline in video quality.
All shots start with a script, whether it is a text plan or an outline with directivity. These will limit the rhythm of the video, and the concept that the message wants to convey. Design the storyboard, which helps the editor to clear the video in the sequence or timeline before shooting. Make a shot list, create a detailed plan in the shooting list and list important shots, which will give the video full footage when editing (Dunn 2017).
This is a very professional production process. I have never had these plans in the pre-production of my video, which has led to processes and themes that have not been properly scheduled for a limited time. At the end of the video, there is always a hasty end. Sometimes I forget to shoot the end shot of the video, or one of the important clips. This will led to the whole film have no end, or no direction. I think it can be like making a proposal before shooting a documentary. The proposal is like a map, and it does not have to be clear about what kind of composition of a image. It just a plan, and this proposal can guide me when I do not know how to shoot or what I need to shoot. Therefore, it is more attractive to use the angle to make a narrative after the theme is selected. If the website of our group is not attractive enough, it must be that the pre-production part is not clearly expressed. In addition, during the pre-production, I did not make the storyboard because I need to go to a lot of location to shoot and the composition is not sure, so I will think about the layout and composition of the screen before each shot. This will waste a lot of time. If I make a V-log next time, I will go to the shooting location, plan the route, and be familiar with the venue, including the subject, shooting angle, and shooting sequence. This way allows me to predict the effect of the video in my heart, that shot is very important, how to link them together.
In conclusion, if you want to make a good video on the Internet, you must explain it in precise language. This will make the film clearer. Second, when shooting with high quality of stable shooting equipment will be more attractive to the audience. Finally, in the stage of pre-production, sufficient preparations should be made to clearly structure the structure of the film and clearly present the theme.
